At sunrise we take up our baskets and head for the slopes of Kavurmacılar Village; gathering thyme, we breathe in that incomparable scent of nature. So that our traditions are not lost, we sit at the loom and weave Yağcıbedir motifs together, knot by knot.
We look for healing not only in our thermal waters but also in what the soil gives so generously. We pick St John’s wort by hand and turn it into healing oils. Saying “Don’t break hearts, crack olives,” we crack our olives over long conversations and make our own soaps. We gather the fragrant mandarins from our garden and pour the season’s abundance into jars as preserves.
